Where do the ends of this return spring go?
Where is the filler bolt (or where do you fill it at?) on
the transmission?

Not sure if that's the throttle or choke return spring. Looks like throttle.

Transmission fill location is your dipstick on right side of transmission.

The tab is attached to the arm for the throttle and choke shafts, retained with a washer and cotter pin. It's the return spring attaching point. The other end of the springs are attached to the heat shield. Three springs in all, IIRC, all the same.

Photo is the choke actuating arm and cable receiver.

As Mickey says, the filler point for the transmission is the dipstick hole. a real PITA to remove the dipstick, also to get oil into the trans. Funnel with a short piece of hose works best.

Fill point is on the right side behind the centre console. Not exactly user friendly in my opinion. Maybe easier for you to remove the console?

On the '67, the access is behind the speaker support, the only thing that might be in the way would be a cover panel on the side. Been so long since I've seen an early GT I don't recall.

And once you get that dipstick out it's worth putting a stout tie-wrap loosely thru the loop handle, so the next time there's better leverage for removing it.

That’s what I refer to as the center consul, not that silly Amco plastic thing that if you breathe on it cracks everywhere.
brill idea on the wire tie.

Thanks! I was hoping for a simple way to do it.
Could I just pour it down the shifter hole?

Doc,
Thanks for the picture, that answers my question.

What's the capacity of the gearbox?
The Bentley manual says 6 US Pints,
& Haynes says 5.6.

I know I just drained mine from properly full (changing seals while out of the car) and it was about 3/4 gallon which would be around the 6 pints claimed by Bentley. Pouring oil into the shifter hole will just result in 3/4 gallon of oil on the ground under the car because the shifter hole is just a hole in the end of a lever that goes into the tranmission about 12 inches forward from that point.

Filling thru the dipstick hole isn't that hard - you DO want to make sure the area around the hole is clean 1st so you don't introduce grit into the gears.

Actually the '67 GT should be the three-synchro gearbox. If so, pouring the oil into the gearshift "hole" would eventually get to the gears, but better to put it directly where it belongs.
