Could this be the smartest money I'll spend?

A few weeks ago I discovered a Sprite in the local area looking sorry for itself. A quick chat with the owner let me know that while tatty, it is complete and has matching numbers. He also gave me first refusal when he decides to put it on Ebay.
Well that day has come: I got a phone call last night from the owner saying he's ready to list it. I'm therefore going to give it a good look over on Saturday morning, including starting it up to make sure it's what I want. He said the engine was running about a month ago, and shouldn't be a problem to restart it.
We've agreed ÂŁ350 providing the car is satisfactory, which I suspect it will be. Here's the plan:
Baby Bertha is of similar vintage, but having been in pieces for so long, the new one will be a good reference car to see how certain bits go together. If the engine runs reasonably I shall pop it in Baby Bertha while hers is rebuilt properly. As Berthas engine is non original I will probably have her lightly modified to get her better suited for a daily runner.
With this new one having its original engine and box, I think a full on resto is in order. Question is, can I get it done for Spridget 50? Well I do love a challenge...

I have a friend with two MGA's with the same plan. One is an original and he is going to restore the other using the first as a template. This last year I got 8 boxes of Practical Classic mags from UK that are 10 to 20 yrs old. I can't tell you how much I've enjoyed reading them. Quite a few spridget articles. There is a variety of cars we in the states simply never see.
