Could Have Been Bad

I bought a 70 B-GT several months, very solid car w/ no rust, but the engine was seriously leaking oil and the tranny is noisy in 2nd & 3rd. Decided to pull the engine/tranny and fix the issues. While degreasing the engine compartment & tunnel I noticed the wire harness leading to the rear was frayed from the metal clip. Well after removing an inch of goop, I found the purple/white wire is completely broken and two others in the harness are worn through the insulation w/ exposed wire.
Could have been an issue, just needed everything to line up!! Spent the afternoon checking the rest of the harness and removing those little metal clips.....

Good thing you spotted that when you did or you might have become an involutary member of the Starter Fire Club (soon to be a full length motion picture based on the novel by Stephen King - oh wait, that was Firestarter! Scary either way! )

Good eagle eye, Ralph. Another story underlining the need to very carefully inpspect these antique cars before driving.

Safe, not sorry, that's the ticket. :yesnod:

Well it does explain why the PO told me he can't get the darn interior light to work!!!!!
I'd recommend if you have the factory metal clips on the wire harness you check for wear and chafing. A quick look and a replacement wire tie could save you an issue.
