Finally got a friend over to try & start the Cortina
- ('67 MKII 1500GT),who's also an excellent mechanic.
Turned it over & noticed oil soming from the base of the
filter.Since I've had this engine running before,I
suspect a bad oil filter.
I'm one of those people that gets suspcious when things
go right,so I guess that I saved myself some frustation.
I want to drive it!!!

- Doug

Geez is this a spin on filter? That's unusual to have leak on you.

I am checking into a MK2 Lotus Cortina clone that's come out of the woodwork up here..

It's an estate liquidation, but the process is very slow, as the familly can't agree on a price or even to let the car go..

I can wait..

@TypeRboy

Neat... What kind of shape is the car in? Sounds like an interesting car, but is there anymore more room in the garage? /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/devilgrin.gif

That wasen't Dale's old car,was it?
Brown in color.

- Doug

Hmmm... Nope . The carc is white with the green flash. it is rust free, decent paint but a pretty bare interior as it is a race car.. Some of the chrome and bits are missing as well..

It would be fun to sort out, and pretty unusual even if it was a clone..

And we'd make room for it!

I took the base for the oil pump in to the
machine shop. The owner pulled it apart & put it
back together. He told me that the base was put on
upside down.I'm hoping to get this thing going again.
Anyone have a spare oil pressure guage for a MKI -
- early MKII Cortina that they want to sell?
I feel like the boat in the old "Harry O" TV show.
"Someday it will run"!

Mine were all Smith's Gauges in the MkI Lotus version. Lotus did that, I guess.
