Correlation between VIN and car color?

Since we're doing a repaint on a '63 BJ7, we have been kicking the idea around on what color we should paint it. My only concern in changing it is whether or not the VIN tells what color the car originally was?

What do you guys feel is the most desired color for these cars?

The VIN does not include the original color. You can get a Heritage certificate using the VIN that will tell you the original color as well as other original information. You will not lose points in Concours judging for any color original to your model/year.

The most desireable color is the one you like best.

Hey Rasky,
You might already know the original color but a good way to tell if there has
been a repaint or two, look under the dash at the bulkhead and see what color
that is. Usually that is not repainted unless it's a total restoration where
all parts and pieces are removed prior to painting and body work.

Personally I am a huge fan of red or black with red coves !!! Red is many
times referred to as "resale red" at places like BJ, etc.

I'll leave it up to the owners discretion then. I like how they look in red and black but he may want to just keep it white.
