Correct way to tape off unneeded wires

Shhhh, I am actually asking about the MGC but thought I'd ask the "family" first....

I cut the loose wires back, and wrapped in electrical tape already but it looks crappy. Fits the car's current condition and owner, but I'd like to do better.

Heat shrink?

bend 3/8 length back on itself and put heat shrink on or I use a heat shrink butt splice and just shrink the empty end closed. Leaving the splice open will still keep the end from touching anything but also make the wire useable for the next time without having to cut the splice off.

the use of solderless connectors has been debated here before, but I have never had any trouble with them.

That's the A&P coming out in him.

6 years in the avionics install shop. :eeek: before moving on to what I do now.

That's the method I use.

Electrical tape falls in the same category as duct tape and baling wire, IMO. It's great for a quick fix, but has no place in a long-term solution.

Tom, I know with your kids you've got lots of bubblegum.... cheap and readily available!

I knew they'd be of some use at some point!

Thanks guys, will unwraps this and do it right.

That's the big question Tom, do you ever want them serviceable in the future?

THE FAMILY!!!! Just when I think Im finally out! They pull me back in! For fun ask this in the MG forum.I wonder if the thinking and answers might differ. If they catch ya, they might beat ya with a soggy tea bag. Careful.

The MG guys would say the same thing Steve suggested.

...THEN we'd beat Tom with th' teabags. :jester:
