Correct way to fasten the boot lid gasket ?

I have the boot lid gasket from Moss. Their cataloge shows that the gasket should be glued to the boot lid. The profile of the gasket as viewed on the ends is not the same in both directions. Which way should it be positioned when I glue it to the boot lid ? What kind of glue should I use. It is a BJ8.
Thanks

Ed, The flattest side of the gasket should be against the boot lid, with the two ends meeting at the bottom of the boot, i.e. near the locking handle. The gasket may need to be trimmed for thickness in order to get a proper fit, so you might want to duct tape it to the boot lid first and see how the gaps line up when it closes. A good gasket adhesive, like the 3M product, should keep it in place.

Hi Ed.
Ralph is right on. Some gaskets have a slightly different shape. I have attached a sketch to be sure.

Thank you Frank and Dave, Dave's attachment is the info I was looking for. The gasket that I have from moss is a different profile from the attachment but I can tell from the general shape, which way it goes. I'll also put the joint at the bottom below the handel. I'll have to try and find some of this 3M gasket adhesive. I have been using contact cement for all of the boot ( trunk ) lining. Thanks again for the info and attachment ! Ed

Hi Ed,
The important thing is to have the thin side of the strip over the inner opening flange.

"3M Super Weatherstrip Adhesive" works well. It comes in yellow or black.
