correct rear axle oil

What is the correct rear axle oil for a BJ-7?

For the transmission.ovedrive it was recommended to use 30wt non-detergent oil and stp mixed. Would that be functional for the rear axle, or redline (which many people felt was too thin & caused leaks)

The BJ7 utilizes a Hypo id rear Axel. Consequently it can be serviced using a Hypo id oil. A popular weight is 90/140.

For the transmission.overdrive it is OK t
o use 30wt non-detergent oil. However, in some cases wear in the OD may dictate a higher viscosity oil be used.

On the other hand, STP should not be used for the tranny, it can cause excessive slipping in the OD.
