Correct float chamber setting

I have a tri-carb with the HS4s and on the weekend noticed fuel coming out of the breather hole on the last carb's fuel bowl..the one nearest the firewall. Disconnected the little fuel line and took off the float chamber cover and cleaned the needle mechanism assuming it was stuck open for some reason or another. However in reading my Haynes manual for the 3000, thought I'd check the correct setting for the little metal lever (sorry..don't know the correct name) that pushes down on the brass float. I saw one diagram that stated a 5/16th tube should be able to rest across the float lid and right through the curved area on the lever. Fortunately I had a 5/16th piece of dowl that did the trick so I set it to that. Other references however said 7/16th so which is correct? Fortunately after spraying and blowing out the needle set up and replacing everything, the leak has stopped anyway so must have been a piece of dirt.

T1 chambers (1 7/8" OD) & T2 (2 1/4" OD should be set at 7/16". T4 chambers (3" OD) should be set at 5/8". Type H carbs should be set at 7/16", & lastly, type HS carbs with brass float should be set at 5/16" which is what you did.

Thanks Dave..appreciate the confirmation. Glad I did something right finally as I learn more and more about the intricacies of my car. Continuous improvement...
