Correct engine height

I have just dropped the engine into my BJ7 and notice that the crank nut sits a bit below the front yoke (over the cross member) thus stopping you getting a crank handle on it.
Is this correct or should the engine be lifted a bit on the engine mounting brackets, i did see in SC parts book that you can get spacers to lift it up that go above the top rebound rubber, but to what height.

That sounds right. Remember the crank handle style dog nut is a relic from earlier engine requirements (unless you have a crank handle in your toolkit!)

Those little spacers are to set the gap between the top rebound rubber and the main engine mount rubber. You want a small gap between the two. Like a business card or two thickness.

Be sure to apply rearward tension using the rear transmission mount adjuster. This will help keep the fan a few inches from the radiator.
 
Hi Rob, Your Engine position is OK. Adding shims will not significantly raise the engines position but can cause the locating pin in the top buffer to skew. Initially the upper buffer will set just a bit high depending on the source of the rubber mounts. However, it will eventually settle where it belong resting on top of the lower rubber mount to resist engine vibration and side ways torquing.--Fwiw--Keoke
