I have a '62 TR4, CT8300-CT8400, car.
What is the correct wiring harness color to use?
Moss shows one color, TRF another.
Should it be vinyl or cloth?
Thanks for the help.
Cheers

Have owned a lot of TR4s over the years. The car I have now is around CT 28000 and has blue tape, Had a couple cars around CT 12000 that had black tape, and a CT300? car that had cloth. If you're building a show car, some judges will probably find fault with anything you choose. I prefer the blue tape.Detail stands out better. Sorry if not much help, but Im sure the experts will chime in.

If memory serves, there were at least two companies (Lucas and ???) who supplied wire harnesses for the TR4, and some (which I don't know) did have the blue wrap. So, either blue or black would be correct. I'd be a bit surprised to find a cloth-covered original main harness in a TR4, but I suppose it's possible!

Possibly Ward & Goldstone, Salford?

The harnesses typically had one of these tags somewhere under the dash:

That is not my label (can't recall where the pic came from) but it appears that the loom wrap is original & black.

My label was torn, did not have the 'C. No." on the righthand column and my harness is blue-wrapped. Makes me wonder if the W&Gs were black and the Lucas were blue.

Pretty easy to duplicate the label to make a replacement on your printer, just print this on buff card stock:

Probably no one will ever see mine but I like knowing it's there.

Thanks for both responses. Just trying to restore my car as original as possible without going crazy.
Probably go with Lucus Blue.
It will never be a show car as my kids and I enjoy driving it too much. Dings and sratches are going to happen.....
Cheers
