TR2/3/3A Correct Coil for petronix ignition tr3A

Hello all, I have made it to the point in my rebuild of installing my new petronix Positive ground ignition, at the same time I ordered the ignition I got the petronix flamethrower coil. I am questioning now whether that is the correct Ohmage coil to use with the ignition. Petronix paperwork calls out for a coil with at least 6ohm. the flamethrowers sticker reads .6 ohm. IF this is indeed the wrong coil to use what would be the recommended one? Thank you as always for any input.
 
0.6 ohm is too low, unless you have the Ignitor II module (not even sure if they make that for your application).

I thought a 3 ohm coil was the typical recommendation for a 4-cylinder. Pertronix has this page on how to calculate what coil you should use:

Though it says for "negative ground only". I don't know if just making the right connections for your case would be sufficient, or if there is some fundamental difference in the positive ground setup/module that makes it not apply.
 
I agree, you've got the wrong coil. Don't even try it, as the module will quickly overheat and burn out. The "Flamethrower" coil comes in three different resistances, you need the 3.0 ohm version.

In the link that Darrell gave, it is the procedure that is only for negative ground. The coil will work with either polarity; and the test will work if you make the appropriate adjustments.

I'm running a Flamethrower coil in my TR3 (3 ohm, with points, negative ground). Can't say that it is any better or worse than most other brands, but at least it hasn't crapped out and left me on the side of the road like the previous Lucas coil did.
