Cornhead grease vs hypoid gear oil

NO.

OK, can it be used in a steering rack? Will the steering be stiffer on cold mornings as opposed to the oil that is recommended?

Some people do use it for this application, Westfield, and I have never heard any complaints.

It is an interesting material. Here's a promotional youtube video [ cornhead grease video. which has some interesting information.

It is used in a gearbox in this video, but I don't see why one would put it in a differential when gear oil has worked just fine for a long, long time.

I agree but on corn head's it is used in gearbox's.

Kurt.

Correct, Kurt. :iagree: I believe that a cornhead box is shown in the video. It seems to be running pretty slowly; my guess is a diffy runs much faster.
