Corner weight setup

I have no idea what the corner weights are for my Spridget.
But I'd like to be able to measure this....especially on the new car I'm building.

I'm not interested on spending $1000+ on a pro-setup to find this out. I'd rather spend that money on race-gas and road food.

I've had an idea about how to (cheaply) handle this for a while, and I just saw a nice example of what I was thinking of today (on another forum).

That's a $10 bathroom weighting scale.....picture pretty much explains the idea.

Hi Nial--

It was good as always to see you this past weekend at NJMP.

A friend of mine has four "grain scales" and he brought them over to the shop and we corner-weighed the Courier by putting a wheel directly on each. There's probably something I am missing but I don't understand why any scale, including a cheap bathroom scale, would not work within the limits of its accuracy, and why couldn't they be placed directly under a wheel as opposed to the remote arm pictured?

Hope I see you at the VRG Glen event.

Michael:

Good to see you! I have a great time racing with the open-wheel Elva guys. Youtube videos to follow. Hope to run The Glen, but oil line came off in 7th session and engine is making weird noises. Hope it's just ignition misfire. I'll know this week.

My car weighs 1700 lbs, with roughly 52% on the front. I think a bathroom scale would max out for my car......hence the "ratio arms" of the above setup (to reduce the weight applied on the scale). Your car is lighter and probably wouldn't need this.

saysprite: Yes, Ruggles Scale look the same. But I can built my own for about $25. And I'm patient.....I only need one.
