I have rebuilt the engine for the 250. I did not notice if there was a copper washer at the rear main seal. The Manuel that I have does not show one , either does the moss catalog. But I have seen that there is one. before I install the body tub I want to make sure that there is no mistakes. I can pull the trans very easy right now, I do not want to do it later if I am wrong.

Yup! That is what I thought. I will order it tonight and yank the tranny.
Thank you Glemon

What is the purpose of that washer?

I have a GT6 and that should have a similar block and rear main seal carrier. I don't remember seeing that copper washer on our car's engine or a core engine we took apart at the same time. That is not to say the washer is not needed or that our GT6 was "right". I am just curious what that washer is supposed to seal or do since they only list one as being necessary on the VB web page.

I Believe that, that bolt penetrates into the crankcase. So the copper washer is needed.

Thanks. I hope I don't have to work on our car's block anytime soon but I'll keep the copper washer in mind next time.
