Coolant level indicator wrong?

Daimler Double Six 6.0 L
I'm getting a coolant level warning light, but the header tank is full.

( Warning ! new to Jags, bonnet opening is for grease monkeys ) :wink-new:

Any thoughts appreciated.
 
hmm. Can you access the radiator proper? COLD, check that level to make sure your recovery system functions and that some sensor in the rad tank isn't giving you an actual proper warning.
Sensors can be floats (in recovery) but usually probe sensors, and no real fixing most of them.

Check the rad first.
 
Probe sensors can corrode and give false negatives. If it is a simple resistance probe you may be able to revive it with some CLR & a toothbrush.
 
Yeah..well...BTDT, and finally gave up as there was no way. I believe the last one I did had a failed circuit board attached (not this make and model).
 
My first thought was some thought of blockage, I've decided to put in for a full service and have it sorted out at the same time.

Turns out the sensor had come out, and something to do with a bracket. All sorted :smile:
