Coolant expansion/recovery tank wanted

Hi everyone. I find myself in need of a Midget or MG-B coolant expansion and recovery tank. If you have one in sound condition that you would like to part with, please send me a PM with your price. One with a good cap and mounting hardware would be even better. I am trying to fashion a recovery tank for my Healey 3000 and the Midget/MG-B tank seems to be a commonly used solution.

Thanks in advance.

Bill

Thanks Rick. Yeah, he's a bit high on that. From the picture, it does not look too good. Seems to have a dent in it and some high gloss paint sprayed over the original paint. A bit rough for that asking price.

The squared corner is stock...the dimple center and below the mounting strap is also stock.

These tanks were painted black at the factory...this does appear to have another respray over the original.

I media blasted and then clear coated mine for the V8.

Bill - If you are not set on a MG expansion tank to use as a recovery tank, The Roadster Factory carries a real nice on for the TR6 that can be used. Go to https://www.the-roadster-factory.com/indexmain.php and enter RFK185 in the search box.
Cheers,

David, thanks for that lead. I wanted to try the MG tank first. I'm not sure if my thinking is right on this, but as I understand it, the factory MG tank is designed to be pressurized and used with a pressure cap. So it provides some positive pressure to return coolant back to the radiator, as opposed to just relying on the vacuum in the radiator tank.

That's true.

The late MGBs' radiators did not have a radiator cap..they were filled via a plug on the thermostat housing (or by using the top rad hose as a funnel). The cap on the overflow tank is pressurized.

MGCs used a radiator blanking cap on the thermostat housing, and a pressurized cap on their overflow tanks.

Hi Bob. The parts came in today and I sent you pay pal about five minutes ago. The tank looks good and I think it will clean up very nicely. The bracket, rubber insulator and cap were a nice bonus. Thanks for the good price.

The pulley is 1/2 inch, and i can't use it, but I sent you a few bucks for it because it is cool looking. I don't think I have ever seen on with what looks like a removable chuck in the center. Maybe I'll clean it up and hang it on the wall.

If any one else is thinking of doing business with Bob, he get my full endorsement. A real gentleman!

Best regards to all,

Bill
