How ancient Rome might have looked.

Tom - is this how you remember it? :devilgrin:

I think the artist went overboard with the rooftop statues.

Ya know, it looked almost exactly like that, when my pet pteradactyl would fly me over the place on the way to our little retreat on the side of Vesuvius. ;)

Soon after building our 400 room summer house there, we had to start singing "Whole lotta shakin' goin' on".

All the rooftop statues were pretty common back then. Votives to the gods, pleasing the demigods, praising the talents of your local "trades women", etc. Did you notice the one of the woman holding the whip and winking ...?

<ducks and runs>

Not how you remember it? :bananawave:

quite impressive - and amazing how urban and sophisticated it was. (even if the video is not quite right) - I always assume that people at that time were largely tent dwellers and primitive and then am reminded by things like this (and have been in Rome and seen the ruins)

Also fascinating in that as I was watching the video I also felt like I was viewing a Star Wars set - Naboo in particular.

Looks like I saw a VW parked outside the Parthenon, but they messed up, it was a later model! :rolleyes2:

Greek mythology, one of my favorite subjects. I have a whole collection of books and drawings on how they built columns and the tools they used during that period, and how they erected some of their buildings. Even gave a few lectures on the subject many years ago. What year? :unsure: :thumbsup2:

The story I got was that Tom fell asleep in an empty field.
When he woke up,it looked like the video.

Not to mention: they moved the Parthenon to Rome... ;)

Really well-done. Sad so little left (particular in the Forum or the Circus Maximus).

Where are all the tourist? Perhaps taking their baths before entering the city? Even then they performed "wellness checks".
