Interestingly enough, they were often marketed that way when new! I recall some old MG Mitten ads featuring theirs, for example!

Oh, and they do hold a lot of cargo!

I should have mentioned that the woman in the photo (reproduced from the Standard Motor Club web site) is THE Dorothy Deen of Cal Sales...and Doretti, and pretty much all things Triumph on the West Coast in the 1950s and early 1960s!

I can see one of these with a old tear drop trailer moving down the road. Or even putting curtains up in the back windows and sleeping in the back.
