Cool Police Car!

[ QUOTE ]
hmmm... Glendale, CA and Burbank, CA police have a new set they're putting on cars that's even thinner than that... probably in the 1" to 2" range plus about 1/2" for the mounting system.

I hate that...the Alabama highway patrol has those little thin ones on top of their cars....gives them an unfair disadvantage....you can't see 'em coming! hehehehe

That's why everyone slows down anytime the see a Crown Vic around here.

Crown Vic, white, blue or black, it's likely *fuzzy* onna inside. 'specially if it's got honkin' big chrome spotlights by the mirrors. Buddy here in sheriff's dep't got a metallic blue Chrysler(!)... he's "management" tho. Guess a gold leaf gets ya a choice /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

You know, if technology keeps marching forward, I'm gonna have to start driving the speed limit.

Takes all-a th' fun outta it, don't it.

I was talking to one of the officers that had the ultra thin light bars. It was his opinion that the bigger ones were better, *because* they were easier to see. He felt the super thin bars put them at a disadvantage in normal traffic with lights off.

Well, I'm glad we have them at a disadvantage!

I always wanted to buy a used Crown Vic (or earlier,a
Mustang GT).Leave it in the Black & White paint scheme.
They paint them all now.
It'd be fun watching all of the other traffic pull over for you!

heh... they may repaint them all, but I still see a lot of them with spotties on 'em... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

I know its not British but it is related to this thread. I also know many of you suffer from appreciating Italian Autos (as do I) as well. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbsup.gif

Lamborghini donated a Gallardo to one of the Italian State Police departments. However, its not the first exotic auto to be donated to the Italian Police. That honor goes to a Ferrari 350GTE in 1962. These cars were/are in service, though assigned to special duty (not just PR but that is part of it). Here is a link. Enjoy.

Well.....................?

I missed the question somewhere.

I think the thread started out with a cool Italian sportscar used as a police vehicle in the UK

mmmm... no?... it started with a cool British Sports car dressed up as a UK police car... the Lotus Esprit, no?

British built, but with an Italian designer- Giorgio Giugiaro of Ital Design... it can get confusing at times, all this cross-fertilization.... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Well, its all about auto art!
