There are two straps of webbing, which run the full length under the seams on the convertible top. They are attached to the bars, assuming to hold them in place.

Should these straps be able to stretch? Or not stretch, like seat belt webbing?

Color of straps, same grey as inside material? Color grey of the metal top. Same color of the inside material or lighter/darker?

Roger

Hi Roger,

The material is a grey canvas strap with a V weave. Thinner than seat belt nylon and not stretchy. Moss number 641-008. I forgot which parts supplier I got mine from but it had both a Moss sticker and an AH spares sticker on the same package. Only $10 or so and looks like the orignal stuff (close to the same color as the inside hood material.

Cheers,
John

In addition to the straps Roger, you may need the Two webbing clips Moss # 38; 805-025 which are often missing and omitted by others.---Fwiw--Keoke

Rog sorry to commandeer your thread.....

How does this arrangement work on a roadster top?

Mine have always been missing and there are no clips or holes on the removable frame to show evidence of any ever being there?

They do not seem to be necessary on my BT7.

So Solly BH, but we do not know anything about them ancient machines.---Keoke-- /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/jester.gif

All roadsters had the webbing. There should be two small holes drilled in the frame rails to hold a small metal "clip or bracket" that is also drilled with the two holes. Sort of a sandwitch effect. Also the webbing is grey and doesn't match the top frame color grey. There are actually at least two different color grey paint used on top frames. The webbing materal is definately not nylon and is much closer to cotton.

Say Mark. Would you be able to provide a photo of the gizmo? Mine does not have any holes drilled.

OK Mark Thanks,

Hi BH, you my have to really look hard to find the small holes used to fasten the two top webbing clips in place. If those clips are like the BJ's they are similar to a tube split in half and I guess 3"-to- 4" long.--Fwiw-Keoke
