It was 60 this weekend so I decided to take the Sprite out with the top down, but I am so confused as to how to fold it up. I ended up creasing and stretching the windows... How is the top supposed to properly fold down, where do you fold in the sides of it?

Also is there supposed to some type of gasket between the convertible top and chrome that surrounds the windshield?
 
There should be velcro just behind the door posts, then three tennax fasteners (pull out to release). As you pull the top back pull the material out to lay on the boot. Fold the "wings" in and then lay it back down into the cockpit. Not easy with words!
 
Yeah, it is hard to describe but TJ is right, when everything is unhooked, fold the frame about quarter to half-way back, at this point there should be a good amount of air-space between the top and the frame, then you fold the side windows in towards the rear window and then as you put it the rest of the way down, make sure everything stays out of the way of the frame. It should end up with the frame folded neatly and everything else tucked behind it along the trunk divider. If you have speakers mounted in the trunk divider you may need to fashion someway to hold the top material up and out of the way so that you'll still be able to hear your tunes but definitely try to avoid creasing the plastic. And an extra note. Be VERY CAREFUL about what cleaners you use on the plastic windows as many things are too abrasive or can cause yellowing. Hope that helps out!

Speaking of cleaning. Any suggestions on how to get minor scratches out of the rear window, and what is safe to clean it with?
 
Brasso. Works well on the windows. it'll even take off the orange gunk starting in the corners. It also works well on dulled plastic lenses (try it on your tail lights) and chrome. Great stuff! They make plastic polish for motorcycle helmet visors. That works well too, as does any ultra fine finishing compound (hand glaze) for auto paint. But the Brasso will work just as well and costs less than all of 'em.
One word of warning, if the plastic is real bad then the brasso gets down in the pores and dries up into a white chalk.
 
Thanks for the tip. I actually purchased a plastic polish and it worked very well. Don't know the name off hand. Will post the name when I get it.
 
I recently purchased a top on eaby and it seems a inch or two short. It's allegedly for my Sprite and am hoping it needs to sit in the sun for a couple of hours to become more flexible / pliable to make the 'extra distance' to attach to the top of the windshield.

Am I crazy or does anyone think I have the incorrect top ??

My top is also an inch or so short if I try to put it up in cold weather. If yours fit elsewhere I'd wait for a sunny day and keep the top up when it's starting to get chilly.

PS. Thanks all for the plastic polishing tips! Will get my elbowgrease out.
