Nicely done!

MGB V8

Mickey

I know this car and watched it being built.

It is a GREAT running and well done.

Rick -

I bought Tony's white BGT that he was doing for Jerri. Going to put a 3.4 V6 in it with 5 speed. Also got a fiberglass bonnet for an MGC that I'll be using. Hope it comes out nearly as nice as this one!

I'm sure that you'll have a great conversion...gotta love the GTs...are you going to use a/c?!?!

The V6 is nice and will definitely get you where you're going in a fast manner....but I'm kind of partial to the sounds of a V8...dontchaknow?

Although my conversion is a bored and stroked Rover 3.9...if I were doing it today, I would probably go with the Ford 302.

Pete is doing an LS3 conversion on a B for an enthusiast in St.Louis. He's also got a couple of 302 conversions going..one from Las Vegas and one from Phoenix.

Yeah, we have to have A/C. This is going to be our road car. Originally thought about the Rover V8 (Love the one in the TR8!), but the GT has wire wheels, and I'm concerned about torque. Also, the 3.4 is a much easier swap, with not that much less performance.

Do like that 302....

AWWW, MAN! Thanks a lot! Back to the drawin' board!

Get some knock-off alloys...or do the switch over to bolt-ons.

The 3.4 isn;t really THAT much easier to do than a V8 swap.

Rick,

Why does that car sit so high in the rear?

- Doug

Jack has a lot of hot rod in him...and wanted a "rake" to the car reminiscent of the 50's and 60's. (Not something that i would have done.....but it's his car.

Would not be hard to lower.

Well, I'm also a bit concerned about the splines. And the wire wheels are brand new!

From what I've read about the swaps, the V6 is a virtual drop-in, with several kits on the market. V8's require cutting the fender wells for exhaust, at least from what I've seen. Still at the point where I can go either way, so will be doing more research.

It's the only thing I'd change. Look nicer in my opinion if the rear was dropped to level out the profile. But that's just me. Beautiful job though, I wouldn't mind it setting in my stable! :driving: PJ

You will still need a BFH.

It is not necessary to cut the inner fenders if you use block-hugger headers....BUT...engine bay heat is also increased....the block huggers have fallen out of favour.

BTW...I talked with Pete Mantell today....this car sits high in the rear as Jack installed new springs AND has anti-tramp bars (which have not allowed the springs to settle completely).

I have hoared back a couple of original Buick 215's engines to do a conversion but just can't seem to get that project to the front line.

Good looking machine!
