Conv. Top Catch Plate

I was talking with a friend about my experiences with my convertible top, which has "popped" open on me on several occasions, when I'd hit a bump in the road. Very discomforting!!! :cryin: :wall:

Traveling down the road at 40-45 mph, and then having the top pop open is not much fun...

We discovered from looking at TRF books and Moss catalogs that there are "catch plates" screwed into the top of the windshield frame. Unfortunately, it does not seem that these pieces are still available!

Has anyone had any experience replacing these pieces, or know of any place where they can be found? Although it's not quite "open air" driving, I do like driving the 6 with the top up at times.

My temporary "fix" has been a vise clamp that I keep tucked behind the passenger seat!

Hi Bill,

There's a pair on Ebay: item # 250218556759

Julian:

Thanks for the heads up.

After writing this post last evening, I went right to ebay, and found a pair, with a "buy it now" price of $10.00. I decided that it was worth the gamble that they are better than what I've got!

Maybe I can get these others, too, and start cornering the market on them...
