Contemplating my navel

You do realize she's 87 now, right?

That's amazing. She was sure a hottie back in the day. I remember, before I Dream of Jeannie, an episode of the Andy Griffith show in which Barbara Eden was a new girl in town and set up shop as a mainicurist in Floyd'd barber shop. All the men in Mayberry were falling all over themselves to get their nails done. Meanwhile, the wives were...well you can imagine.

I'll take outdated TV trivia for $200, Alex!

Q: Which TV SitCom was first to show an actual toilet on TV? (no fair using Google)

I'm guessing ... "All in the Family".

?

That's a good guess. All in the Family was the first show to feature the sound of a flushing toilet, but not the first to show a toilet. Hint: It was a show that aired well before All in the Family.

The Life of Riley?

Queen for a Day? (There was a throne)

I Love Lucy? Or The Honeymooners?

Show of Shows?

The question in my mind is if just the top of the tank counts as showing "a toilet". I don't think the actual seat/bowl was shown until much, much later.

Yeah, I double checked what I thought I remembered. But you said no Google, so I won't give the answer.

Can't say if I saw it back then, must not have made an impression.

I'll guess the George Burns & Gracie Allen show.

Ok, I'll let the cat out of the bag - it was an episode of Leave it to Beaver. In this episode Beaver buys a pet Alligator (actiually it was a Caiman) and he and Wally put it in the tank of the toilet. (and as pointed out, only the tank was actually seen)

Woulda never guessed.

Sounds like an Eddy Haskell stunt.

I was going to guess The Potty Duke Show... wrong again.
