Considering Purchase! Advice Please

I would agree about the NJ car. The car is Maine would be a better starting point but you can plan on new sills and most likely floors. Also if it hasn't been driven for some time then all new brakes and clutch hydraulics as well as some engine and carb work.

Also, if you like hard top roadsters... dont completely overlook a TR6 with factory hardtop. They make a nice GT Coupe style car with the hardtop and look sharp. That said, with a TR6 you're a whole different price range higher than the GT6, but the engine is the same Standard Triumph straight six, and for all that it's not a high power engine, it's a work horse, torquy and reliable. Thrust washer issues are about the only problem that they have, but can be checked for easy enough.

I have seen a few pop up on ebay every once in awhile that are real good condition and no issues for $7-10k.

I have absolutely not discounted the TR-6, hard or soft top. In terms of the british roadsters, they are by far my favorite in terms of aesthetics. I will certainly be keeping my eyes open. The way I look at it, the longer I wait, the more money I'll be able to plunk down on a better quality vehicle, and the more fun I'll be able to have driving it (rather than fixing it). The car pictured above is certainly sexy!

I like working on cars/turning a wrench, fine-tuning etc. but I like driving them even more!
