Roger is way too modest to tell you guys this, so I'll pimp for him:

Roger took Best Of Show at the Hot Summer Nights - Danville, CA show last night. This is a prestigious and very large show of SF Bay Area cars, most of them loveley tricked out Rods. The competition is very intense. For an Austin Healey to even place, yet alone take Best of Show at this event is an amazing feat. A true testament to Roger's absolutely obsessive attention to detail with his gorgeous BJ8.

Many of you know, Roger and I have twin Healeys and there was a time when I could hold my own against his car. No longer!!!
No way I'm ever again showing the Healey if he's on the field :>)
Cheers to all and Congrats my friend. Job well done.

Randy

Way to go Roger - your Healey Blue BJ8 makes the rest of us jealous with envy !!!
Congrats,
Mike

Congratulations Roger.

I am one who loves the creativity needed to make a modification that truly fits in with the tenor of era of its surroundings. Your creativity has added to your Healey with everything fitting in beautifully and looking as though it belonged. You are a master at this. A well deserved Best of Show.

All the best,
Ray (64BJ8P1)

 You are the MAN. Hearty congratulations. We know how much work goes into this. Revel in your glory, for you deserve the kudos! --elrey

Thanks Randy, thanks for you kind words.

The Danville show is one of my favorites. The town blocks off main street plus some of the side streets. Two live bands, vendors and the resturants and pubs are all open. Every year this show gets bigger. This year had more than 350 beautiful cars.

I found this video clip on Youtube, last years show, and it just happens to show Randy's stunning red Jag E-Type, I'm parked right next to him. His Jag is right around 2:10 on the video time line. A few frames ahead, 2:20 you'll see who the real star of the show is... It's my fake peeing dog. That dog gets more smiles and is photographed by almost everyone with a camera. "Is this your car? Yes, why yes it is, as I assume the Superman stance, feet apart, hands on hips, chest out, big smile. Where did you get that dog!"

Off all the shows I attend, I prefer the casual downtown car shows. If your lucky like me, to have some local towns that put these on, then you know how fun they are.

Cheers,
Roger

Congratulations! Anywhere around here (close to Motown...) if there's a single hotrod or muscle car in the show, a sportscar doesn't stand a chance :frown:

Hey Roger,
Got to comment again after watching the video you posted of last year's event and the unbelievable diversity of cars at it. No matter what other issues the state of California may or may not have, you still have the best car culture of anyone and as a life long car nut, my nickname in high school was "hot rod", I always wanted to live out there for awhile to live that car culture. Oh well, too darn old now but my point is for you to win Best of Show with the quality of rides that I amsure were there this year is truly fantastic. You done all us Healey nuts proud !!!!!
Regards,
Mike
