Was wondering if there is a Concourse Guide for restoring a Bugeye. Bought a '59 Bugeye last year and am now in the process of restoring it and want to make sure I do it right. I know there is such thing for the Big Healeys when I restored my 100-4. Looked in the Healey Marque magazine but didn't see anything on concourse. Any info would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Kurt

The Austin Healey Concours Registry was created by members of a number of national Austin Healey clubs to assist owners in restoring their cars to original standards and to encourage the restoration and maintenance of original cars. The Registry is an independent body belonging to no single club but is a committee made up of individuals who are ready to assist with questions and inquiries, arrange and conduct judging at recognized national club events, and maintain an ever evolving knowledge base of data for the restorer.

Objectives

To provide information, assistance and encouragement to those who wish to restore and maintain their cars to original specifications and quality.

To certify and maintain a registry of those cars that have been restored to notable levels of originality.

To encourage the continuing improvement of cars through a published and supported system of inspection, recognition, and awards.

To establish and maintain consistent and widely accepted guidelines of condition and originality to assist in restoring cars and determining the quality of restorations.

The Registry caters to all Austin Healey production cars including Hundreds, 100/Sixes, 3000's and all series of Sprites. To this end a book of Guidelines has been established to provide the information needed to assist in the accurate restoration process of all these models.

Whether the owner or restorer wishes to have the car judged or not, this book of Organization, Policies and Guidelines will prove to be the most valuable tool in the restoration process.

Further information on the guidelines can be obtained by contacting George at 105 Thornbury Avenue, Glen Rock, NJ 07452 or (201) 445-3124.

Ray,

Thanks for responding so quickly. I'll have to give George a call. Don't want to put all this effort into a restoration onlyto find I did some of it wrong. I bought this hoping to fix it up as a driver but the more I got into it found that it should be restored. Isn't that how they all go.

Thanks again,

Kurt

Rich Chrysler just posted this on the Healey team.net list. (Posted here with his permission)

Dear Healey Friends,

I am pleased to announce that the distribution of the 2009 Concours
Guidelines, Policies and Scoresheets has commenced today for anybody who has
ordered them. Each shipment includes the appropriate CD for Big Healey's
and/or Sprites. The Guidelines have been published in a PDF format and our
distributor, Mike Osipik will send you an Email attachment that should answer
any questions regarding opening the files.

This PDF disc allows the individual to copy the content into paper format as
needed, so it's right there and handy as you're working on your car. There is
a lot of new material and more coloured pictures that have been added to the
2009 edition.

Cost with postage in U.S. $20.00

Canada and Mexico $25.00

All other $27.00

These prices are all expressed in U.S. currency.

Anybody planning to have their car judged at the AHCA Kingston Conclave this
June should have this 2009 Edition on hand. In fact we are asking all entrants
to bring a hard paper copy of their appropriate judging sheets for their
series car.

Anybody wishing the new 2009 Edition of the Guidelines, Policies and Score
sheets should contact:

Thanks. I just contacted Mike last week and have copies for the Sprite and Big Healeys ordered. Looking forward to getting them. Kurt

The form on the web page indicates that the CD has updated standards for big Healeys but older standards for Sprites. A note says that the updated standards for Sprites won't be available until mid-2009. I've sent an email to Mike Osipik to confirm.

Mike's response

Ray,

There are two separate CD's. The Big Healey has quite a few updates, new pictures and two supplements. The Sprite dates to 2001 and was originally published in paper form only. The plans for a mid-2009 revision is an estimate at this point and will depend upon efforts of the Registry. I hope this answers your questions.

Thanks,

Mike Osipik
