Same paint for Bugeyes just a different surface.

I would ask the author for his reference material.

My dad's happens to be that way right now, because he painted the block but left the valve cover original.
 
I always assumed that the original painters painted the entire assembled motor all at once -- that's why the bolts and gaskets are all painted as well.
 
40 year old paint will never be the exact same shade as it was orginal.
