So I purchased a top of the line battery for the Crypt Car
about 20 months ago. Two year immediate replacement and
years 3 thru 8 are prorated replacement.

The battery is just about totally dead, I take it back,
they test it as bad, and tell me due to loss of data on
their computer my warranty is also lost. They have the
battery's first charge date stamped on the side.

No good- I have to fork out for another premium quality battery.

No I did not keep the original battery receipt.

Oh well, you play- you pay!!

And they say Lucas is bad!

With your luck you might as well get an extra one now.

By cold Dale means under 80....

and Landsend long sleeve Tees and a cap. :yesnod:</span>

Dale;
If it ever gets below seventy, I'll send you and Wendy a couple of jackets.
You'll surely be the envy of the 'hood.

Seriously, tell them the production date on the batterey should be enough to get you warranty.

Dave

Dale- I know you have an attorney. Think it's time to throw the "L" word around.

A "Premium Quality" battery that's died after 20 months of service? And you've only managed 5000 miles in those 20 months? Something is seriously wrong with that battery.

I buy Optima yellow tops for my Jeep. 5 years on the same battery. I drive the jeep once every 90 days or so. To keep it from dying, I installed a battery disconnect. Prior to that installation (in 2004), the battery must've died 20 times from the accessories draining it. Everytime it recharged. No problems.

I believe I paid $120 for it at the time. Now, it's a little more expensive, but still not much more than the high-end, gold Autozone brand, which I picked up for the TR3A at about $90.

I suggest a call to the manufacturer, to inform them of the problem with the battery and to request that they call the seller and arrange a replacement.

Dave and all-

Seriously, the San Juan Cathedral broadcasts Christmas eve midnight Mass.
The cathedral is not A/Ced. But it is the local custom of the women to wear
full lenght fur coats to Christmas midnight Mass.

Comical, a bit, to see their makeup running down their faces.
I am sure Jesus would chuckle to himself.

Ok;
That I would like to see.
It's as silly as us wearing shorts in December, trying to look like the cold doesn't bother us.

Who has more fun than people?

Dave

Randy- It was an AutoCraft Titanium 875 cranking amps.
I have less than 2000 miles on it. I purchased the same
battery again today for $120.

I've no idea if AutoCraft Titanium is a good name or not.
It is what Western Auto sells for Triumph TR6.

But you already know the terms of the warranty : "Tough luck, we lost it." If they don't stand behind their products any better than that, it can't possibly be a good name.

BTW, Wal-Mart has perfectly acceptable car batteries, made by Exide (a very old company), for under $50.

Randall, you know I know nothing about auto mechanics.
If the computer lists only one XYZ battery for my
1969 TR6- THAT is the battery I purchase.

They had no other batteries listed as suitable for my car.

A battery is basically a battery. Post differences and crank power which for you is not as important to your buddy Dave in the frozen north. If it fits and the post are right it works.

just my 2 bits (the devaluation of the dollar)

Dale,

I thought you saved all the receipts for your car.....

Also, recommend you talk to the store manager.

Mention how much money you have spent there, the fact that the production date is on the battery, that you drive a car with no residual drains(actually a faulty alternator can drain it, but they don't need to know that), so the battery was defective and you would appreciate their "stepping up and taking care of their customer, you".

~ Dale, a few items come to mind ~

Are you hiding receipts from Wendy?

Are we at nearing $60k with receipts missing?

If you want we can ship you one via USPS?

:wall:

I would not buy another battery from that store period!!!
Or you could ~ Get the tape measure out.
