Computer virus question

Was talking to my mother today and she mentioned that whenever something funny shows up in her inbox and she forwards it <i know> the recipient gets 68 copies. I told her to try it and sho nuff.

Here is my question. Does this sound more like a virus or a compromised account? It only happens with stuff she forwards and not stuff she composes.

Se uses outlook express and XP

Any ideas?

Hi JP - there are lots of online references to that OE problem. Seems they all relate to having a gazillion messages in the "sent" folder. Example:

I'd suggest clearing out all but the last month's worth of messages, then closing OE, and re-starting it.
