Computer Question

This is a weird one to me.

I use full version Adobe Acrobat every day
in my document preparations.

Adobe is always and often updating itself.
Last night when I tuned my computer off, I got
the usual "going to update" message.

This morning Adobe Acrobat was wiped cleaned out
of my computer. Even the desktop icon was removed.
I did a disk search and Adobe seems to be 100% removed
from my computer.

Yes, I have my original software but real curious what
might have happened. Only Adobe Acrobat seems to be
missing.

Thanks,

dale

I had the same thing happen with my Acrobat 8. I did a reinstall, and all was well after it downloaded all the updates again.

Yeah, I kinda figured we had a power blip during the
nightly Acrobat update- before the update was installed
but AFTER Acrobat was stripped out.

Tried restore once and it failed to return Acrobat.
I picked another date and it gave me back Acrobat.

I really hate Adobe Acrobat always updating itself.
Adobe Photoshop as well.
Adobe Reader as well.

I wish I knew a way to stop all these updates.

Thanks guys,

up and running

dale

You can go to preferences in the programs, and disable the updates. I did it on Acrobat after my re-install.

It took a bit to find it, but there is a check box there.

Depending on how you're using it, you might consider getting rid of Acrobat and switching to Foxit Reader. It's a lighter, quicker (and less obnoxious) program. There's also a free PDF creator that works well - but the name escapes me at the moment.

There is a free version of CutePDF creator.
