My iMac came with 4GB (2 x 2GB 1333 Mhz DDR3 cards) with 2 slots free. I bought 2 x 4GB to put in the empty slots so now I have 12GB which is adequate most of the time. One of these days I may swap out the 2GB boards for a couple of 4 or 8GB boards to give me 16 or 24.
