It will depend on your cam since there will probably be some overlap on the valve timing. The numbers you get should fall within the same range. If you get a couple that are 125 and some that are 170, then there is a problem. A leak down test will give you a truer reading of the engines health. I recently saw a TR8 that had compression numbers all within 15 pounds of each other, but 3 of the cylinders had leakdown results over 20%, 2 cylinders under 5%, and the other 3 were in the middle somewhere. When the heads were pulled, it was obvious the rings had not seated properly in all cylinders. The vertical scoring on the block was so bad, another block and pistons had to be sourced. Even thou the engine only had 600 miles on it, the blow by was bad enough that gaskets and the dipstick kept blowing out causing oil to spew everywhere. This was with a PCV valve hooked directly to a vacuum port on the carb. If you had just gone by the compression numbers, you would have thought the engine was fine.
