completely overwhelmed/intimidated where to start?

anthony7777, I would like to make it a nice streetable/reliable car for the weekends. I dont want to go for the all out show car, I would rather enjoy riding around in it than just taking it to shows. So I would have to say a good clean, safe driver, but not to the point that I am going to be bothered and paraniod about taking it out. I know a car is only as good as its foundation but I dont want to get in over my head, I would like to make it as easy as possible to get it back on the road in a nice presentable fasion.
 
Then my advice is do it using the same approach as you did on the mustang. Except you will rebuilding running gear and will need the Engine/Tranny in place prior to fitting the body panels. The unfinished incidentals can then be handled as a rolling restoration. Meaning it can be safely driven while making the remaining repairs.---Fwiw--Keoke
 
I'm just finishing up (95% done) a two year restoration on a basket case. MUCH work done by the previous owner. Like yourself my AH will be a not quite daily driver. All work done in a large one car garage and painted on my front lawn.
Think of your AH as a Mustang with "funny" carbs and weird sized nuts and bolts. My opinion is similar to some above, do one thing at a time OR IT WILL NEVER GET DONE. Easiest way to get discouraged is to have nothing to show for six months of work but a pile of parts. Good luck, Bob

bob, your right i met a guy about a year and a half ago in a local store parking lot i was admiring his lotus Elise as he and his wife were admiring my bj7 turns out he lives a couple of blocks from me and he also has a bj7 that's been totally apart for 15 years hes moved back and forth to Canada a couple of times having the car shipped back and forth with each move, ( wonder how many parts got lost) he asked me to come over to his garage one day to look at his bj7 it was scattered all over the place seems he was trying to do everything at the same time hens nothing was getting done. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/savewave.gif
