Kevin, I think I enjoyed my Bug Eye more with the 948 and smooth case than after I changed to a 1275 RC and 3.9 rear. When I had the original I stuck to sleepy back roads and a leisurly pace. Now I try to keep up with the rat race! I commend you on your decision! BTW my smooth case would grind a couple of teeth if I tryed to speed shift but a smooth easy shift gave no problem. Unless its really bad I think I would live with the tranny you have.

Have a '59 with rib case. 1st gear sounds geary. Rest of gears are quiet. It shifts fine and stays in gear. Only the heavy sound coming fron 1st. Any thoughts? thanks
 
That's normal with the SmoothCase I have in Bugsy my '68 with a 1098.
 
Learn to live with the noise in first (and reverse). If you baby the trans and always STOP before going into first it should last a long time!
