Compatable rims list for Midget

Search didnt find it, but I have seen a rim list of compatable rims somewhere for the Midget. I have some Western wire basket wheels on it w/155/80/13 They look great but the offset is incorrect and I get tires rubbing the fender wells on bumps/dips.

If anyone knows where this list is I would love to have a link to it, OR what are you using (steel wheels fit this budget best) that has a modest offset and works well. I have yet to find ANY MG parts in ANY wrecking yard near me so I believe Ill have to use some steels of something else.

The Panasports (they look like the old Minilites) are popular, but not cheap.
Chevy Vega wheels had the correct 4 X 4" bolt pattern but require larger studs. The bigger studs are easy to fit to the front but not so easy on the rear. You can get steel wheels in this pattern from Diamond Wheels or Pete Paulsen Wheels (with almost any offset), but they will need the bigger studs too.
I have seen people use 4 X 100 mm bolt pattern wheels (because they are "close") but I would not recommend it.

the bolt circle is 4 on 4" bolt circle.

The best deal on alloy wheels is Pack Racing in Arizona..they have a website.

All other aftermarket alloy wheels are way more expensive.

As Mini stok, some Dwarf cars and other circle track cars and some trailers use a 4 on 4" b.c. you might find some ready made steel wheels. If you find some you have to use 60* taper lug nuts with a 13/16" or 7/8" hex and 3/8"-24 thread pitch....which will be somewhat hard to find.

The Vega and Monza (GM) cars used 13 x 5 and 13 x 5.5" wide wheels BUT the offsets are too outboard. A 13" x 5" wants to see about a 3 3/4" to 3 7/8' rear spacing.

An inexpensive alternative is to use the O.E. Spridget center with the bowl lug nuts or the O.E. Rostyle with the 60* taper lug and a 5" steel outer with a compatible i.d. to the spider o.d. Set it in at 3.800" backspace and your there. With that combo you can use a 175-60. With 3.900" you can use a 185-60.

There are always used wheels availiable but you get just that...used parts..and some do not include lug nuts and are well used (as you have found as in offsets).
 
the mk 2 vw golf has a 4 X 100mm bolt pattern
 
Ill go back to the wrecking yards this weekend and see what else I can find. This is great info.

Spacers would put them further out. they are to far out as it is, they need to reside further inboard. I have this low dollar vision of baby moons and beauty rings over a flat black steel wheel.

Pack racing does have some nice rims, Ill be calling in for price tomorow.

First step, roll the inner fender edges so they lay flat against the inside of the fender... that'll gain you 1/4 inch or so of added clearance each side.

Second... have you tried the stock steel wheels used from 1958-69??? They would have the look you are talking about, and lots of folks have them lying around used. They are narrow, though. The '58-63 wheels have a ring of 12 holes in the center section... the 64-68 wheels have less noticeable slots between the center section and rim. Hubcaps have an "AH" logo (Sprite) or plain (Midget).
 
Now that sounds good. I may have to go on Ebay for them. There is actually a local MG, Jaguar, Alpha dealer, of course they have no new cars but still have lots of used parts and service. Of course he doesnt have 4 good matching rims left. He has been an excellent resource in this land of virtually NO MG autos.

Im going outside right now to roll the lip back, that is where its been rubbing.
