Lots of other ways to improve efficiency as well.More efficient bangs - less friction
Which one of the main reasons that modern engines get more power out of less displacement while still burning less fuel than our primitive TR motors.
Of course it could be worse. My 1947 tractor only gets about 25 HP from over 320 ci!
