high I am a new member and is looking for some help in iding my newest find .when I bought it the owner said it was a hillam but tag on the left inner fender has coommer tag i do know itis a 1954 to 56 pickup or ute .if any can helpme figure out proper year and model that woud be great thanks in advance cheers fixer

Looks like from wikipedia some commers were badged as hillmans - so I suspect it could maybe be - though with a Commer name plate it seems like chosing Commer is the way to go

Rootes Groups sold Hillman and Commer back in those days, and other brand names too...
Commer was the name they used for their trucks, some of them were heavier duty and not at all related to any cars
And (as has already been mentioned) some Commer light duty trucks were based on the Hillman Minx, so would likely be referred to as Commer but it would be an easy assumption for the previous owner to call it Hillman

Thanks for the info. It doesn’t have a power train. So I am thinking to restore it ,it might be a long project. As I am told there isn’t many around. As of now. Just trying to get right year and model to at least get registered in my province. Thanks again cheers fixer

My two cents
The first number you show MPFE001072 ? is most likely a body production number, not used for the vehicle identification or registration certificate.
The second number you show 441104 LPX is both the engine number and vehicle identification number. This is the number that should be on the registration certificate... when acquired.
Having the name Commer on the plate does not imply the vehicle's identification. They were all made in the Rootes factory and badged for the market where they were to be sold.
As far as I know, BMIHT doesn't have records for Rootes group vehicles,
(No guarantees on this information being 100% correct. It's just what I have come across in my workings with Rootes vehicles.)
