If I roll it out of the garage this weekend, I'll take a couple of better pictures.

Re: Coming long weekend-working on my Midget- you

I have my usual list of stuff to fix on my 67 Midget...
1. Rear Brakes need adjusting
2. Clutch Slave cylinder needs bleeding
3. Need to fix the charging system (Mazda Alternator)
4. Turn Signals on right side stopped working
5. Brake Lights stopped working
6. Muffler and exhaust needs a new clamp
7. Install Seat Belts
8. Dash instrument lights are out

I may even get a chance to drive it around the block.
But I'll listen to some oldies.. drink a few brews.. and remember my fallen brothers we left in Viet Nam.. I miss them all... more now that I've turned sixty.

To fallen comrads, salute.

Yes, I'll definitely take a pause to remember as well.

Thanks to all who have given and sacrificed so that I can have the freedom to mess about with my car and mow the grass and barbecue and raise my kids and - everything!

My usual endeavor on "patriotic" holidays as well. My POW-MIA flag will be hung over the garage door at sun-up today and brought down Monday sunset.

Pro'lly end up doin' work on th' hovel. And looking forward to a "reunion" of sorts in September: those who served with 600/601st photo are gathering. Should be a kick, actually.

Re: Coming long weekend-working on my Midget- you

- installing new clutch slave cylinder and clutch line which will finish off the hydraulic system for the car
- bleed hydraulic system
- install new radiator hoses and T-stat
- start looking at the ignition system
- check out the Hibdon Tires Plus tent sale and see if I can get a set of tires for the car

Who knows, in a month or so I will be ready to see if she will start /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif

Of course she will start, she is just setting there waiting to get back in action.

Wow... I see that works REALLY well to 'taffy' the axle stubs, too!

...I thought it was just us Lotus Elan guys with the diff output shaft problem. The OEM "stub axles" in the +2's do that. Seems inertia is a booger for bofus. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smirk.gif

And that was with the 4.22. I'm sure I can do even more damage with the 5:38. The course designer loves 360' crossovers around a point cone that most people take in 1st, while the rest of the course is taken in 2nd. Without the ability to go first I'm going to try 2nd and 3rd gears this year.

Saturday will be car prep (I'll change the diff in the Midget and Erica is replacing the radiator in the Miata) for autcross on Sunday. It should be good, Erica's father is coming and they are co-driving the Miata.

The rest of Saturday / Monday will be for yard work and finishing a tranny rebuild.

This method is nearly accurate enough if the ratio possibilities are not known, however we do have limited choices with these cars. It's either 3.73, 3.9, 4.22, 4.55 or 4.72
Also there is the 3.55 gearset with 39/11 teeth. I bought that set from VB. Its a Mowog set, but the only thing I know that it ever came stock in was the Lotus7 kit cars.
