I did a search here the other day but didn't find what I'm looking for.

Is there a chart that lays out body color available, interior color and top combinations? I thought I saw it somewhere, just not sure and didn't save it.

By the way, I'm going to look at 1960 TR3 project this weekend. SN # TS56698L. Gonna take the trailer with in case I feel like opening another hole in the ground to pour money in!!

Gordo - are you asking for original manufacturer colors for a TR3? I'd think the Piggott Original Triumph series would be the books you're looking for. Specifically, Piggott's "Original Triumph TR2/3/3A".

The chart is also in Piggott's "Original Triumph TR TR2/TR3/TR3A/TR4/TR4A/TR5,TR250/TR6 on pages 54-55. It depends on the commission number as well. There are charts for TR3, TR3 hardtop, TR3A from TS22014, TR3A from approx TS37000 and TR3B. Let me know if you need anything specific and I will try to help.

If your goal is to stick too what would be 'correct' original combinations I think you'll find that almost anything was possible. The Piggot books will point you to the ones most frequently used.

Supposedly the TR2s had the most unusual colors & combinations -- legend has it that Sir John Black's wife picked them out and that she was color-blind. Probably apocryphal but then how do you explain an Olive Green car with a Targa Purple interior?

By 1959 things were a bit more mainstream and standardized but unusual (and attractive) combinations still occured.

I see the Piggot book is a must have. I imagine all the usual suspects, Amazon may have it? I found a color called Cotsworth Blue on the body with a gray interior, top and side screens. It was quite stunning on the car to me.

Hopefully this project I'm chasing is worth the 6 hour drive tonite.
