Colortune??

The MG guy whose name escapes me right now (I remember now John Twist) has some great videos on tuning on U Tube, including SU carb tuning as I recall.

I think the lif the pin trick is ok and helpful, but the tiny little bit you are supposed to lift the piston with the motor running (and vibrating) always seemed a little problematic to me.

I tune as best I can with the lift the piston trick, then if needed fine tune under operating conditions, if you happen to be blessed to live in a place where it gets cold the car should need a little choke to start, but after a few minutes should rev up without hesitation, if it needs little or no choke to start and revs with no hesitation it is probably too rich, if it takes forever to smooth out on acceleration on never does too lean.
