Why is it so hard to start my car when it is cold. I will have to try 15 or 20 times before the car stays running. Once warm it will start with a bump of the button. Skip

When I worked for Austin-Healey West back in the 70s, cold San Francisco mornings would be a bit hectic. We didn't have enough room to work around all the cars kept in the shop overnight, so first thing in the morning we'd have to put close to a dozen Healeys out on the street (alley, really). I suppose we'd use a can of starting fluid a week, but those sleeping ba$tards would start right up at the first touch of the key. Good thing too, most of the cars didn't have enough battery to crank them more than a few times before click, click, click! Keep in mind, those Healeys were generally seeing daily duty and only came to us when absolutely necessary, usually on the end of a hook!
