cold air box?

Thank you sir.

Hi Zblu,
Thanks for the size info. It's definitely an intriguing thought. I spent a fair effort making some air cleaners that would work with my Mikunis, so I’m a little hesitant to scrap them. A bank of peltiers with cooling fans along the box would certainly keep the chill on.

Interesting topic. I don't think that losing the "cold air" duct is any great loss. When it's hot out I keep mine closed anyway because two minutes at a stop light will turn it into a hot air duct once you get going again. I get more cold air into the footwell via the vent windows on my BJ8 than from the cold air duct.

dphilippo, thats my reasoning as well, why not put the "fresh air" duct to a usefull purpose?

I would like to add something about the HP increase, it is not so much in increase as a prevention of loss.

The engine does not make more power with the CAB, but it prevents the loss of HP as the under hood air heats up and becomes less dense.

If you have driven an LBC on a really hot day and idled in traffic a while you may have felt the effect, which is a noticable decrease in power.

As far as the filter, they make similar conversions for cold air feeds for modern cars, lots of filters from K & N etc. available mail order or from the auto parts chain stores.
