Coating a Bugeye gas tank

Got my gas tank and radiator back from the shop yesterday. The radiator looks great -- new core and patched up top and bottom tanks. The radiator had not looked bad when I dropped it off, but the corrosion was far worse than I had expected.

Gas tank is nice and clean now, but I really want to seal the inside so it won't rust again. I'm planning on using Red Kote, as folks here seem to have had good luck with it.

Any tips on how to remove the little screen in the tank? I know folks have sealed these tanks, so there must be a way. I don't want to cut into the tank for access, so can the screen be removed another way?

Drew, I just did my tank on my 79 midget and I just left the screen in. The only problem that may come up is some of the liner got on the bottom of the screen so I may end up yanking it after all.

Understand that you can blow the screen out with air after the sealer is in and it is not dry.

Haha. got ya.

Oh well, how about a long drill bit.
