clutch slave cylinder

I know this has been discussed before but I couldn't find it.

I am putting the clutch master cylinder back in the car after paint. I have the push rod at the throw out bearing arm in the top hole. Which hole does the rod from the master cylinder go in at the clutch pedal. If I put it in the 2nd hole from the firewall the clutch pedal is too high. If I put it in the 1st hole from the firewall the clutch is about the right height but I don't know if the travel at the slave cylinder is enough.

I guess I need to know how far the rod should move at the throw out bearing arm.

I hope I was clear in my question and appreciate any help, Pete

Assuming this is a TR6, the slave push rod goes in the middle hole on the drop arm from the gearbox housing. It should move about 5/8 inch as I recall. Not sure which hole is used at the pedal - I don't remember there being any option on my car (a 75), but I would think the middle hole would be the place to start.

Cheers
Alistair

Middle for the slave. I don't know about the pedal, but I'd guess middle and check the travel.
