Clutch Pedal Feel

About 2 mos ago post about loss of "take-up" feel through clutch pedal, response to replace rubber hose to slave, got it done and left town for a month. Took it for a drive and same thing, pedal goes down, select gear, pedal come up, put on gas and move away just fine but with no "take-up" feel, maybe it was never there and I am just making it up. Even when stopped and moving off in first it just starts going. Lugged up hill and gave it gas to try to provoke slip of a worn clutch, no slip, steep driveway, no slip. Car has 49K mi with I expect original clutch (have owned since '88 38Kmi. Drives fine. Any thoughts?

I have a similar sensation with my old Benz (the Healey doesn't have that problem at least), and know that the slave cylinder is not in great condition. I used a cylinder honing tool to resurface the bore, and it works, but i still have little feel. As Why has stated, the car runs well - no slip, just no feel. I wonder if it is that the Slave has enough of a seal to function, but is leaking a little - a little air in the system inside the slave? Would this give less communication? Now that I'm writing it, i have my doubts that this could be right?

My car too has an abrupt engagement, but I just chalk it up to the characteristics of that clutch__they all feel different.

By coincidence, and proving the point, I one time installed new clutches in my two (2) MGBs (68 Tourer & 74-1/2 GT) one weekend apart. Identical engines and ovd xmsns, both 3-pc clutch sets bought from the same supplier on the same order, and completely different feel (or take-up) on each. Just as a matter of course, I always rebuilt the clutch master and slave cylinders when I do a clutch (new rubber kits & Flex-hone honing of bores).

Every clutch, even otherwise identical ones, have their own feel to them. My BMWs are the same way.

thanks for comments, Canberra, since new flex hose just installed and bleeding at slave without lift and torn rotator cuff real trial, once I found system, bled excessively just to be sure. Daily driver Caterham7 and Subie Sti which are very feedback laden cars, also wondered about contrast effect. Although never noticed it before and it just all of sudden seemed different. Anyhow, since it works just fine will leave it be for now (finally, in honor of father's day, 50 yrs after given accepting fathers advice of "if it ain't broke don't fix it.".
