We have a 1962 BJ7 with a later BJ8 clutch assembly connecting to a Toyota transmission, and the point of clutch engagement seems to have come up higher than I remember from last year (or, even, a few weeks back).
Putting a tape measure roughly horizontally from the centre of the clutch pedal to its centre when it's pushed to the floor is 7 inches; putting the trans in reverse and bringing the pedal up produces about 5 inches of free movement before it begins to engage and move the car.
Engine off, etc., it's about 1 inch down before feeling resistance. The fluid level is up and there's no indication of slippage, nor obscure mechanical noises or indication of problems.
Any measurements from other cars? Any ideas as to why the point of engagement might have moved further up the pedal travel?
Thanks,
Doug
