T-Series Clutch mater cylinder little plastickey bit

I just bought a rebuild kit for the clutch master cylinder of my '74 MGB GT.

Everything looks like the parts that came out of the cylinder when I disassembled it, except...

The rebuild kit came with a small plastic piece that I don't recognize. It has a round base, with three "prongs" that form a sort of cone shape above it. It also has a small brass strip embedded in the underside of the base, forming a sort of horseshoe shape.

It fits in the base of the master cylinder's main spring, but as I said, I don't remember a similar part coming out of the cylinder when I took it apart.

Can anyone tell me if this plastic bit actually goes in the base of the spring (where it seems it would block the outlet port)?

You old part is probably still stuck in the bore.
I had to use a wire to knock mine out.
