I replaced clutch master and slave cylinders at the end of April. 1500 miles later, the master is leaking again. I am using DOT5 fluid , but apparently many of you do without problems. This part is from TRF, but
I had a wheel brake cylinder fail out of the box from Moss. Does anyone have a source for better parts?
I still have the Girling master I removed. Would I have better results by rebuilding this? I enjoy working on the car, but am not enjoying redoing my work. Any suggestions? Thanks

Might want to give TRF a call.

I believe there was a disclaimer with part, that warranty would be void by using DOT5. I accept that and don't expect compensation. My last TR had a lot of paint missing from brake fluid, so I would like to stick with the DOT5.

I'ved decided to rebuild original Girling and hope for the best.
I honestly think that's your best bet. So long as there is no damage to the bore of the cylinders, rebuilding originals makes good sense. I've been doing it for year whenever possible, and I greatly prefer doing that to dealing with the repro cylinders generally available today, few if any of which I'd waste my money on. (Point of fact: I've got such a repro as the brake master on my '67 Herald, and it's been giving me grief off and on the entire four years I've had the car. I've got some NOS as well as some rebuildable Girling cylinders, and one is going on very soon!)
